Carrizales-Rucker Release Records

To find someone released from Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center, first determine whether the person left Cameron County custody or merely moved to another jail building or agency. The Sheriff operates Carrizales-Rucker as part of one county system with two Brownsville facilities. A completed Odyssey release event, county notification, direct jail confirmation, and booking-out record provide stronger evidence than a missing roster row. The destination matters: bond or sentence completion may lead to the community, while a transfer can lead to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or ICE.

Where a Carrizales Exit Leads

Carrizales-Rucker is Cameron County's primary Sheriff-operated adult jail facility. It is not a separate custody database from the Ruben M. Torres Sr. Detention Center No. 1 or the Alex F. Perez / Old County Jail. A person can move among these buildings while remaining in Cameron County custody. Because the official web roster does not display a assigned-building or transfer field, the public table cannot identify that internal movement.

A genuine exit from county custody can follow a cash, surety, or personal bond; time served; completion of a county sentence; dismissal or other court order; or transfer. Bond normally means physical release while the criminal case remains pending. Dismissal of one case does not establish that every hold cleared. Transfer can mean continued custody with another county, TDCJ, the U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. Death and escape also end a roster status but are not community releases. Use the destination on the booking-out record before describing what happened.

If Pre-Trial Services conditions were ordered, a person released on bond may report to the county program at 974 East Harrison Street, second floor, Brownsville, 956-574-8118. Conditions can include GPS, a drug patch, or SCRAM when ordered. This is pretrial monitoring, not probation, parole, acquittal, or discharge.

Confirm a Carrizales Release

The official Cameron County list is useful for finding a booking date, defendant name, booking number, SO number, charge, and photograph. It mixes people currently housed with some people housed during the prior seven days, refreshes every two hours, is not comprehensive, and expressly excludes federal prisoners and detainees. It has no release date, reason, destination, or released flag. A missing name is therefore a lead, not proof.

  1. Match the exact name and preserve the booking number and SO number from the county list.
  2. Check Texas IVSS-Counties for a Cameron custody event, confirming participation and the specific record in the live service.
  3. Call Carrizales-Rucker when same-day timing or safety makes direct confirmation important.
  4. Read the signed Cameron court order. Use the District Clerk portal for felony district cases and County Clerk or iDocket for misdemeanors.
  5. Request the actual booking-out sheet through Cameron County NextRequest, including release time, type, order, and destination.

Cameron's SAVNS maintenance plan documents that staff enter custody and expected-release information in Tyler Odyssey and must complete the system release before physical departure. That makes a generated custody-release event more meaningful than roster disappearance. The same plan permits suppression of some whereabouts or release notices, so silence is not conclusive. The current county notification platform is IVSS-Counties; older VINE phone and PIN instructions are legacy.

When a transfer is shown, continue in the receiving system. Search TDCJ only after state acceptance, because the state web search covers current TDCJ prisoners and county-to-state processing can create a gap. For ICE, use ODLS. For sentenced federal custody, use the BOP locator; pretrial federal detainees controlled by USMS may not appear there. The Cameron County release search explains these agency-specific paths in full.

Carrizales Records and Contact

Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center
7100 Old Alice Road
Olmito, TX 78575
956-554-6701

Official Cameron sources conflict on 7100 and 7300 Old Alice Road in different contexts. Jail mail instructions, contact material, and procurement sources support 7100 for this facility; verify the destination by phone before travel. No general walk-in records hours were verified.

For a durable record, describe the person by legal name, aliases if relevant, date of birth, SO number, booking number, date range, arresting agency, and facility. Ask for the booking-in/out sheet, actual release date and time, release or transfer disposition, public destination agency, authorizing order, bond notation, holds or detainers where releasable, and booking photograph. Texas Local Schedule PS sets a minimum of release or transfer plus two years for core booking, transfer, and release documents. That retention floor does not guarantee online display or disclosure of every field.

The Texas Public Information Act applies subject to privacy, active-law-enforcement, correctional-security, juvenile, victim, medical, expunction, and nondisclosure restrictions. Cameron publishes no verified flat fee for a jail release sheet or photograph. Ask for an estimate if charges apply and request the nonexempt remainder if part is withheld.

About the Olmito Jail

Carrizales-Rucker houses Cameron County detainees under the Sheriff's Jail Division. A 2025 county procurement response identified it, Torres, and the Old County Jail as the three operating adult county components and gave Carrizales an average-population snapshot of 962. That dated operational figure is not an annual release count and should not be converted into one.

The common county record chain is important because Cameron does not publish an independent Carrizales release feed. The Odyssey entry identifies the custody event; IVSS may communicate an event; the court file explains legal authority; and the booking-out sheet records physical completion and destination. These sources answer different questions. A bond order may authorize release before all holds clear, while a booking-out record may establish transfer without deciding guilt or the final case result.

Property After Carrizales Release

Carrizales has a distinctive property cutoff. Property is supplied at release when the exit occurs before 5 p.m.; after that, the person must return the next business day. This is a property rule, not a release schedule, and it does not mean releases stop at 5 p.m. Family clothing and property pickup is documented for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Money in the trust account is returned on release or transfer. If the person transfers to another county, property and money go with the transporting agency. For a TDCJ transfer, family has 30 days from the release or transfer date to collect property during the documented weekday process. These details can help distinguish a community exit from a custodial transfer, but the official disposition remains controlling.

When the Name Disappears

A roster miss can result from actual community release, internal movement, a data change, another-county transfer, TDCJ commitment, federal or ICE transfer, suppression, lag, or omission. Search with agency identifiers because aliases, hyphens, reversed names, and initials can defeat name matching. The two-hour roster cadence is not a promise that release posts within two hours.

For an older booking, use the felony or misdemeanor court disposition and request the Sheriff booking-out record instead of relying on commercial booking mirrors. A court order and jail timestamp together provide a stronger chain. An arrest, charge, booking entry, or photograph is not a conviction. Use the records only to verify the specific custody event, its date, and the agency responsible.

Read the Evidence in Order

For a same-day question, begin with the county roster only to identify the correct booking. Its displayed fields are the photograph, booking date, defendant, booking number, SO number, and charges. None states actual release time or destination. Save the identifiers and note when the table was checked. The published two-hour refresh interval describes update cadence, not a guarantee that a physical exit will appear within two hours.

Next compare three event types. A signed court order records legal authority, an IVSS custody event reports a system change, and the Sheriff booking-out sheet records the completed jail event. A bond entry can precede completion while another hold is resolved. Conversely, a booking-out disposition marked transfer can establish exit from Cameron custody while confirming that confinement continues elsewhere. If sources disagree, ask the court clerk and jail custodian to clarify their own records rather than selecting one conclusion.

For older cases, split the court route by case level. The Cameron District Clerk portal and copy process cover felony district matters, while the County Clerk and iDocket route covers misdemeanors. Ask for the signed judgment, dismissal, bond, commitment, revocation, or other controlling order. The court file can explain the legal reason for a change after the short online jail display ends, but only the custody record supplies the physical release or transfer timestamp.

Follow the Receiving Agency

A TDCJ commitment creates a possible processing gap between the county record ending and the state system accepting the person. Use the county transfer disposition and judgment during that gap. Once accepted, search by TDCJ or SID number when possible. The public TDCJ locator covers current prisoners, so disappearance from it is not historical discharge proof. TDCJ IVSS, Parole Division information, a release certificate, or an agency record is stronger afterward.

For an ICE destination, search ODLS promptly because its documented released-person window is 60 days. For sentenced federal custody, use the BOP locator and Register Number where available. A federal pretrial detainee may remain under USMS control and never appear in BOP; the Southern District Brownsville docket and contacts are the appropriate fallback. Each result should name the agency exited, the date, and what happened next.

Keep a search log with exact names, identifiers, date ranges, systems checked, and retrieval dates. Name variations, lag, suppression, and restricted records can all produce an empty result. A precise statement such as transferred from Cameron County custody to the receiving agency is supported when the disposition says transfer. A broad statement that the person is free is not.
