Find Cameron County Released Inmates

Cameron County released inmates may leave a jail list before a durable release record is easy to find. A Cameron County released inmate search must separate a true community exit from a move to another jail, state prison, federal custody, or immigration custody. To search for Cameron County released inmates, start with the agency that held the person, then confirm the event through its records and the related court file. Texas release and supervision systems add useful context when the county roster no longer shows the person.

Cameron County Release Meanings

A release from Cameron County custody means the Sheriff has ended one custody episode. It does not always mean the person went home. Bond, a personal-recognizance order, time served, dismissal, completion of a county sentence, transfer to another county, commitment to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and transfer to federal or ICE custody all remove a person from one jail's control. The destination field matters as much as the exit time. A record that says “transfer” describes continued custody, while a bond release means physical exit with the criminal case still open.

Cameron operates one county-wide jail data chain for Carrizales-Rucker, Ruben M. Torres Sr. Detention Center No. 1, and the Alex F. Perez / Old County Jail. A building-name change can be an internal move. It is not proof of release. Port Isabel Service Processing Center is a separate ICE facility, and its records are not part of the Sheriff roster. The most accurate statement names both the agency left and the next destination.

Cameron County Release Record Fields

The public Cameron inmate table is not a release ledger. It describes people currently incarcerated or housed within the prior seven days and shows a photograph, booking date, defendant name, booking number, SO number, and charges. It does not publish an actual release date, release reason, destination, or releasing officer. Its two-hour refresh statement is a roster cadence, not a promise that a physical exit will appear within two hours.

A durable Sheriff record should tie the exit back to the correct booking. Ask for the booking-in and booking-out sheet or release sheet. Names alone can collide, so preserve the SO number, booking number, booking date, and date of birth when lawfully known. The following fields answer different parts of the release question.

FieldWhat it establishes
Booking and SO numbersThe county custody episode and local person identifier
Actual date and timeWhen the Sheriff completed the exit
Disposition or release typeBond, sentence completion, transfer, or another recorded basis
Releasing facilityWhich jail component processed the event
Destination agencyWhether custody continued with TDCJ, another county, federal authorities, or ICE
Authorizing documentThe order, commitment, or other legal authority for the event
Booking photographThe image tied to admission, not proof of guilt or release

Released or transferred? The word “release” can mean release from Cameron's control. Read the destination before saying the person returned to the community.

Request Cameron County Release Records

Cameron County accepts public-information requests through its NextRequest portal. A focused request helps staff identify the right custody episode. Ask for the booking-in/booking-out or release sheet, actual date and time, disposition, facility, destination if recorded and public, authorizing order, and booking photograph. Request electronic copies and ask that any nonexempt part be released if another part must be withheld.

  1. Gather the exact name and the SO or booking number from the official roster, if available.
  2. Add the booking date and date of birth only when needed to distinguish the person.
  3. Submit the request to the Sheriff through NextRequest and name the specific records and event.
  4. Ask the District Clerk or County Clerk separately for the judgment, signed order, and docket entries.
  5. Compare court authorization with the jail's actual booking-out timestamp and destination.

The Texas Public Information Act requires prompt handling, but it does not promise that every request will be produced within ten business days. During the applicable response period, an office may release records, give a production date, seek an Attorney General ruling, report no responsive records, or rely on a prior determination. Cameron publishes no verified flat fee for a jail release sheet or booking photo. Costs depend on current public-information rules and the size or medium of the request.

The Texas Local Schedule PS keeps core incarceration release, transfer, and booking-in/out records for at least release or transfer plus two years. Retention is not the same as online display or public disclosure. Juvenile, victim, treatment, medical, security, sealed, expunged, and active-law-enforcement information can be restricted.

Cameron Release Laws and Courts

Texas Government Code Chapter 552 supplies the general public-information framework. Section 552.021 supports access to public information, subject to exceptions and other confidentiality laws. It does not make every line in a jail file public. Texas expunction now appears in Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. An exit from jail alone does not create eligibility. Nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 limits specified public disclosure but is not the same as destruction.

The court record often lasts after the roster row is gone. Felony matters use the Cameron District Clerk portal and criminal records office. Misdemeanor matters use the County Clerk and iDocket. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, jail-credit entry, community-supervision order, revocation, or TDCJ commitment can explain why custody changed. Yet a signed order proves legal authority, not the moment every hold cleared and the person crossed the exit.

The District Clerk copy form lists separate search, warehouse-retrieval, and certified-page charges and asks users to allow two to five business days. Those clerk costs should not be confused with a Sheriff release-sheet cost. Likewise, the County Clerk schedule's $5 line called a “release fee” is a criminal court-cost item. It is not a jail gate charge, booking-photo price, or public-record copy fee.

Carrizales Release Property Timing

Cameron County's Jail Division gives a practical rule that can matter after a Carrizales-Rucker exit. Property is supplied at release when the exit occurs before 5 p.m. A later exit may require the person to return the next business day. This cutoff concerns property only. It must not be read as a claim that the jail stops releasing people at 5 p.m.

Family clothing and property pickup is documented for Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trust-account money is returned on release or transfer. When a person transfers to another county, property and money go with the transporting agency. For a TDCJ transfer, family has 30 days from the transfer date to collect property under the stated procedure. These details can help distinguish a community exit from a custodial transfer.

Cameron Bond Release Conditions

A bond entry means a court has authorized release under stated terms. Physical exit can come later if another hold remains. Cameron Pre-Trial Services may administer GPS, drug-patch, or SCRAM conditions when a local court orders them. The office is at 974 East Harrison Street, second floor, Brownsville, and its phone is 956-574-8118. Pretrial supervision is not a conviction, acquittal, or sentence discharge.

For a same-day pickup, confirm the court action first, then check for a county notification event or call the jail component. Do not estimate an exit time from the booking date or from the roster's refresh statement. If durable proof is needed, the booking-out sheet closes the gap between an authorized bond and the completed physical release.

Cameron Jail Scale Snapshot

A 2025 county procurement clarification identifies three operating Sheriff jail components and gives Carrizales-Rucker an average-population snapshot of 962. That dated figure describes operational scale. It is not an annual release count and should never be converted into one. The same source says Detention Center No. 2 is not operating, so it is excluded from the active facility pages.

Find Cameron County Released Inmates

A strong search follows the custody path, not just a name. Start with the official Cameron roster to preserve identifiers and determine whether a recent county booking appears. A missing row does not prove release. The list is noncomprehensive, combines current and recently housed people, and excludes federal prisoners and detainees.

  1. Save the booking number, SO number, booking date, charge, and facility context from the county row.
  2. Check IVSS-Counties for a Cameron event or an existing notification, while allowing for lag or suppression.
  3. Search the correct court clerk for the order or disposition that explains the custody change.
  4. If TDCJ commitment appears, allow an intake gap and then search by TDCJ or SID number.
  5. For federal or immigration clues, use BOP, the federal docket and USMS contacts, or ICE ODLS.
  6. Request the Sheriff's booking-out record when an exact time, type, or destination is needed.
Roster absence is not release proof. It can reflect a community exit, internal change, transfer, delayed data, a suppressed event, or omission.

Cameron Roster Has No Feed

Cameron County does not publish a verified 24-hour or 72-hour release feed. The official roster's seven-day wording describes who is incarcerated or has been housed during that period. Since it has no release date, reason, or destination, it cannot show who left during a selected window. The dedicated Jail Releases: 24 Hours and Jail Releases: 72 Hours routes therefore lead with verification and records-request options.

The roster still has value. Its photograph and six visible fields can identify the custody episode needed for a request. The official roster notice shows the actual current/seven-day scope. That evidence also prevents a common error: calling a recently housed list a recent-release list.

The linked Cameron roster image shows the notice and field layout used in the live table.

TDCJ Cameron Release Lookup

The TDCJ inmate search covers current state prisoners, not a full historical list of discharged people. Search by TDCJ number or SID number when possible. A name search requires last name and at least the first initial; date of birth, race, and sex can narrow the result. Data is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old.

If a county judgment commits someone to TDCJ, there may be a gap before state intake data appears. Once the state row exists, preserve the TDCJ number. A later absence from the current-inmate search still does not prove discharge. Use TDCJ IVSS, Parole Division, the release certificate, or a focused records request for past proof.

Cameron Release Alerts and Supervision

Texas moved county victim notifications to IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. Cameron's older SAVNS plan remains useful evidence about the local Odyssey workflow: staff enter expected-release data, the systems exchange information around the clock, and a complete system release occurs before physical exit. The same plan permits suppression in some circumstances. Silence is not proof that no event happened.

TDCJ IVSS is separate and covers state prison and parole events. Parole means release from confinement under Parole Division supervision. Probation, called community supervision in Texas law, is imposed by a court and administered locally through a CSCD. Pretrial supervision is another distinct status. The Probation & Parole page explains how to verify each route and why a favorable parole vote is not an actual release.

Discharge
The end of the sentence or supervision obligation shown by the responsible agency.
Parole
Release from prison while the remaining term is supervised.
Probation
Court-ordered community supervision administered locally instead of, or after suspension of, confinement.
Detainer
A request or authority that may send a person to another agency rather than home.

Cameron Court Exit Proof

Cameron's split clerk system helps reconstruct an old release. Search the District Clerk for a felony district case and the County Clerk/iDocket route for a misdemeanor. The docket may show bond, dismissal, sentence, commitment, or revocation after the jail row vanishes. Still, the signed order and the Sheriff's booking-out record answer different questions. The first authorizes or explains the event. The second proves the custody exit was processed.

If those records appear inconsistent, ask both custodians to clarify. Do not pick the entry that seems most favorable. A case may remain open after bond, and an acquittal or dismissal is not inferred from jail release. Court disposition also does not establish whether another county, TDCJ, USMS, or ICE took custody next.

Port Isabel Transfer Check

Port Isabel Service Processing Center sits in Los Fresnos within Cameron County, while the Sheriff roster expressly excludes federal prisoners and detainees. This local border context moves ICE near the front of the fallback chain. A person who disappears from the county list may have entered ICE custody rather than returned home.

ICE's Online Detainee Locator System searches current custody and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. Use the exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact name, date of birth, and country. An ODLS release means departure from ICE custody. It can represent community release, removal, or transfer, so obtain the disposition before describing what happened next.

The official Port Isabel facility page supplies its local contact context.

Federal Cameron Release Search

The BOP inmate locator retains public release information for many federal prisoners released after 1982. Search by Register Number for precision. A past release date and Location “RELEASED” show exit from BOP custody, but not the end of federal supervised release or every other hold. A future release date is projected. “CCM” can describe community corrections placement, and “IN TRANSIT” is not discharge.

USMS controls many federal pretrial detainees, and no public former-USMS-prisoner locator was identified. Search the Southern District docket, contact the Brownsville Clerk or Marshal as appropriate, or make a focused USMS FOIA request. A missing BOP result cannot prove release. The BOP result definitions explain the release fields and cautions.

BOP results establish federal custody status only, so other supervision or transfer checks may still be required.

Cameron County Release Facilities

All three Sheriff buildings share one public roster and county records chain. Facility names should guide the contact, not become separate custody conclusions. Port Isabel uses federal immigration systems.

Detention Center No. 2 is not listed because the county's 2025 response says it is not operating. The juvenile facility is outside this adult records scope.
